Ledger announced Ledger Atom at Op3n 2026 in Paris: a phone-shaped, data-only 5G device that runs everyday Android apps on one side and Ledger OS on a separate secure chip for the moments that matter. Reservations for the Founders Edition are open now at a special $849 price with a fully refundable $100 deposit. Ledger says estimated delivery is summer / Q2 2027, and that the price rises to $899 after launch.

Atom is not marketed as a smartphone replacement. It has no cellular voice or SMS, cannot place emergency calls over the mobile network, and needs an eSIM from a carrier for 4G/5G data. The pitch is a signer you can live on: crypto, passkeys, agent approvals and private messaging on hardware you control, with a physical privacy switch that cuts the cameras and microphone at the circuit level.

How much does Ledger Atom cost?

Founders Edition reservations are $849, locked in with a $100 deposit that Ledger says is fully refundable if you cancel before paying the balance. After the Founders window, Ledger and press coverage put the regular price at $899. Shipping is estimated for summer 2027 (Ledger also writes Q2 2027 on the blog disclaimer). Specs, design and price can still change because the product is still in development.

Founders perks listed on Ledger's shop page include a $50 BTC voucher, a premium protective accessory and privacy screen protector, a Ledger Recovery Key, and optional three months of Ledger Recover. Early partner perks are flagged as coming soon. Ledger plans to sell Atom only through its own website at first, not through third-party retailers.

What is Ledger Atom, exactly?

CEO Pascal Gauthier describes Atom as a Ledger signer that runs your everyday apps: Android Open Source Project for the normal side, and an EAL6+ Common Criteria Secure Element running Ledger OS for Secure Mode. When you approve a payment, agent action or sensitive login, Ledger OS takes over the trusted display. A Secure Bar at the top of the screen is designed so only the secure element can write those pixels, which is meant to stop malware from faking the approval UI.

The Verge reports a Qualcomm Dragonwing chip rather than a flagship Snapdragon, a single rear camera, a 4,000 mAh battery and a 6.77-inch OLED panel at 60 Hz. Ledger's shop lists a 6.8-inch AMOLED with Gorilla Glass 3, a 50 MP rear camera and 32 MP front camera, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, NFC and USB-C, fingerprint unlock in the power button, dimensions of 78 x 164 x 9 mm and a 250 g weight. Ledger also promises five years of Android OS updates and at least seven years of spare-parts support, including a user-replaceable battery.

Privacy switch, Secure Mode and anti-tamper

The hardware privacy switch physically disconnects the cameras and microphones. In Secure Mode, Ledger says those sensors and other sensors such as accelerometers are turned off while you confirm an action with a separate Ledger OS PIN. Unlocking the everyday Android side uses a pattern or fingerprint.

Atom also adds physical anti-tamper measures after the recent CryptoBilis supply-chain implant incident (we covered that separately). Ledger told The Verge the Secure Element, MCU and FPGA sit in a protective enclosure that is meant to detect drilling or opening, that the display and back cover are monitored, and that packaging is tamper-evident. Direct-only sales are part of that distribution story.

Solana Mobile Seeker app and AI agents

On stage at Op3n, Solana Mobile named Ledger its first hardware expansion partner. The Seeker app, with the Solana dApp Store, will be preinstalled on every Atom. Signing and approvals in Seeker happen in Secure Mode on the Secure Element. Solana Mobile says Seeker already has 1,500+ dApps and cites over $13 billion in transaction volume on Seeker devices.

For AI agents, Ledger Agent Intent (announced at the same event) queues approval requests so agents can keep working while you approve later on a trusted screen. Ledger says the stack works on existing Nano Gen5, Flex and Stax signers, and that Atom is where it works best, with OpenClaw integrated from day one. No money moves without your physical approval on the secure path.

What Atom can and cannot do

You can install everyday apps, use Ledger Wallet natively without a second signer, approve agent proposals, and (between two Atom devices) use hardware-backed message encryption that Ledger says keeps plaintext out of the Android side. Voice or video calls only work over data or Wi-Fi through third-party apps. There is no cellular calling, no SMS and no mobile-network emergency calling. Network bands split into North America and rest-of-world versions, and Ledger does not guarantee every carrier will work.

App availability depends on certifications and licences before devices ship. Ledger is a technology provider, not a bank or investment adviser; crypto services run through third parties. Images on the shop page are illustrative of a product still being built.

Should you reserve one?

If you want a portable Secure Element for crypto and agent approvals and you are fine carrying a second, data-only device beside your phone, the Founders price and refundable deposit lower the commitment while the hardware is unfinished. If you need a primary phone with calling and SMS, Atom is the wrong product by design. Either way, treat summer 2027 as an estimate, buy only from Ledger's site, and inspect packaging when units eventually ship.

Frequently asked questions

How much does Ledger Atom cost?

Founders Edition reservations are $849 with a fully refundable $100 deposit. After launch, the price rises to $899, according to Ledger and The Verge (checked Oct 16, 2026).

When does Ledger Atom ship?

Ledger estimates summer 2027 / Q2 2027. That is an estimate, not a hard commitment, and may change while the device is still in development.

Is Ledger Atom a smartphone?

No. It is a data-only mobile device with 4G/5G eSIM for data. It does not support cellular voice calls, SMS or emergency calls over the mobile network. VoIP apps over data or Wi-Fi may still work.

What are the key Ledger Atom specs?

About a 6.8-inch AMOLED (60 Hz), Qualcomm Dragonwing chipset, 50 MP rear and 32 MP front cameras, 4,000 mAh user-replaceable battery, 5G eSIM, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, NFC, USB-C, EAL6+ Secure Element with Ledger OS, and a physical privacy switch. Dimensions: 78 x 164 x 9 mm; weight about 250 g.

What is the Solana Mobile deal?

Solana Mobile named Ledger its first hardware expansion partner at Op3n 2026. The Seeker app and Solana dApp Store will be preinstalled on Atom, with signing handled in Secure Mode.

How does Ledger Atom work with AI agents?

Ledger Agent Intent lets agents queue actions for you to approve on the Secure Screen. It already works on Nano Gen5, Flex and Stax; Ledger says Atom is the best experience, with OpenClaw integrated from day one.

Where can I buy Ledger Atom?

Reservations are open on Ledger's official site. Ledger says Atom will initially be sold only through ledger.com, not third-party retailers.

How is Atom related to the CryptoBilis implant hack?

Atom launched days after Ledger's supply-chain implant incident. Ledger says Atom adds enclosure, display/back-cover detection and tamper-evident packaging aimed at that class of attack. It is a new device story, not a retelling of the hack.
