Honor Magic 9 series: prices, specs, China sale

Honor's Magic Grand Ceremony in Beijing is over, and the China store pages are live. The Magic 9 series is three phones with three jobs: a compact dual-200MP Magic 9 from CNY 4,999 (~$745), a cinema-stacked Magic 9 Pro Max from CNY 6,499 (~$969) on Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, and a battery-first Magic 9 Super Edition from CNY 4,499 (~$671) with an 11,000mAh cell and active cooling. Sale opened on Honor's China channels at 16:08 Beijing time on September 28, 2026. This is the post-event sheet — confirmed prices, official hardware, and what actually changed across the whole lineup — not the morning ARRI teaser.

China prices: every SKU Honor is selling today

Before the keynote, CEO Li Jian had only locked the Magic 9 16GB + 512GB SKU (list CNY 6,499 / anniversary CNY 5,999 / subsidy CNY 5,499). The Honor China store now lists the full matrix. Approximate USD uses about CNY 6.71 per dollar — mid-market, not a fixed FX quote.

Magic 9 Super Edition: CNY 4,499 (~$671) for 12GB + 256GB; CNY 4,999 (~$745) for 12GB + 512GB; CNY 5,499 (~$820) for 16GB + 512GB. Same colour family as the compact Magic 9 on the store listings. Eligible China buyers may still stack national subsidy and trade-in promotions on top of these tags — Honor's launch notice lists trade-in subsidies up to CNY 2,000 and several gift packs; those are channel offers, not the phone's list price.

Magic 9 Pro Max: Extreme Gen 6 and the cinema stack, now official

Honor's Pro Max product page confirms the chip the morning preview could only label as a tipster bet: Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 (第六代骁龙8超级至尊版), with MagicOS 11. Battery is an 8,800mAh typical Qinghai Lake cell (8,600mAh rated) with up to 100W wired and 80W wireless SuperCharge. Display is a 6.8-inch panel. Protection is IP68 + IP69 + IP69K. Biometrics pair 3D face unlock with a 3D ultrasonic fingerprint.

On imaging, Honor keeps the dual-200MP ARRI pitch: a 200MP gimbal-class main, 50MP ultrawide, 200MP periscope telephoto, plus the in-house Hoyo / H1 imaging chip, ARRI LogC3 pipeline, and a claimed full set of 87 official ARRI Looks (downloadable). The Pro Max also gets what Honor calls an industry-first cinema-grade shotgun / directional mic on a phone. Clip-on G200 and G500 teleconverters and the wider Photography Master Kit remain separately sold accessories on Honor's China accessory pages.

Magic 9: the compact dual-200MP volume phone

The standard Magic 9 is the small-screen flagship. Official page: 6.37-inch flat display with ~0.95mm bezels, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 (第五代骁龙8至尊版), 8,000mAh typical battery (7,820mAh rated), up to 80W wired and 50W wireless charging, IP68 / IP69 / IP69K, and the same ARRI dual-200MP storytelling as the Pro Max — with slightly smaller sensors on the main and telephoto than the Pro Max's 1/1.28-inch and 1/1.4-inch pair, per the pre-launch sheet Honor's marketing now matches in spirit. Front camera is the 55MP square 1:1 sensor Honor has been teasing for weeks. A dedicated shutter button and AI key stay on the frame.

Pricing is the real news versus this morning. Starting at CNY 4,999 for 12/256 puts the compact model under the CNY 5,499 subsidy floor Li Jian highlighted for the 16/512 SKU, and under several recent China flagship openers (Oppo Find X10 and vivo X500 both opened their base 12/256 at CNY 5,499). Honor is clearly chasing volume on the small phone while the Pro Max carries the cinema badge.

Magic 9 Super Edition: 11,000mAh and a fan

The Super Edition is the odd, useful one. Honor's page leads with an 11,000mAh typical Qinghai Lake battery (10,690mAh rated), a 6.81-inch display, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, and a 3D Butterfly VC active-cooling system with what Honor brands as a 30,000-rpm East Wind turbine fan. That is a gaming-phone thermal story in a Magic-series shell, and at CNY 4,499 for 12/256 it undercuts both siblings on entry price. Camera stack is more modest than the ARRI dual-200MP pair — Honor still cites a 200MP main in Super Edition materials, with a simpler ultrawide/telephoto set than Pro Max — so buy this one for battery and sustained load, not for LogC3 grading.

Availability and what is still missing

China: on sale now via Honor's official store and the usual China retail channels after the 16:08 Beijing open. Honor's launch notice covers deposit final payments through early October, trade-in subsidies, and Pro Max-only perks such as a limited 15-day no-questions return and six years of fan cleaning on the Super Edition. Global: still no US, UK, EU, or India day-one SKU. Honor has signalled later international news without a calendar, which matches how recent Honor flagships have lagged China by several weeks.

Independent camera and battery tests are not in yet. Treat ARRI Looks, LogC3 grading latitude, shotgun-mic claims, and the 11,000mAh endurance numbers as manufacturer claims until reviewers publish. For buyers outside China, today's sheet is a pricing and silicon map for late-2026 Android flagships — Extreme Gen 6 only on the Pro Max, huge batteries across the board, cinema accessories as an upsell — not a checkout button.
